Huawei P20 Pro vs Huawei Nova 3i vs Honor Play.. Which is the Best Mid Range Phone

Introduction:

It’s very evident that Huawei and its sub brand Honor are trying really hard to capture the Indian Phone market from the past year. Huawei and Honor are leaving no stoned unturned. Be it by launching products in every price segment or by giving huge discounts on the older generation phones. They have been giving tough competition lately to Xiaomi in the mid range segment and Oneplus in the flagship segment. But in the past 6 months there are three mid range phones that have been launched with the prince range of 20k INR. Nova 3i and P20 Lite by Huawei and Play by Honor. It’s surely beneficial for the user to choose from more phones in the market,  but it’s very important to know which one is the right phone out of these three mid range phones.

Comparison:

If you look at the three phones, with first glance they all look similar with Iphone-ish notch and 19:9 display, except with the Huawei P20 Lite being a bit smaller than the other two with 5.84″. Both the Huawei P20 Lite and Nova 3i have premium looks and build, whereas the Honor play went with a uni-metal body. Huawei and Honor play has an extra feature called as GPU Turbo, which enhances the gaming experience by providing more power with less energy consumption. All the three phones have the required sensors but loose out gorilla glass protection in the front. Though they look very much similar, if you dig deeply into the specifications sheet you can find the actual differences in the phone. So let’s get into them.

Conclusion:

Huawei P20 Lite:

Its pretty clear from the above comparison that Huawei P20 Lite does not stand a chance with the other two phones. Unless someone specifically wants a smaller form factor in the 20K segment, I find no reason for choosing P20 Lite. Lower battery capacity and older processor definitely makes this phone lag behind the competition. It’s presently sold at 19,999 INR but it would have been a good deal if the price was around 16k.

Huawei Nova 3i:

Huawei Nova 3i is a decent mid-ranger phone mainly targeted at camera lovers. Dual camera on both front and back, 3D emoji and GPU Turbo are some highlighting factors but lack of EIS for videos is a major drawback of this phone considering it was projected as a camera-centric phone.  Available at 20,990 INR at present, its the costliest of all the three. If you are looking for a better Selfie camera, Premium Build quality with glass design, larger storage and overall decent performance, go for Huawei Nova 3i.

Honor Play:

Honor play is truly a beast in the mid-ranger segment. A flagship processor with GPU Turbo and a larger battery, fast charging and great sound, except for the camera department it has everything done right. Definitely worth the price. The Kirin 970 processor is on par with the latest Snapdragon 835 which is available only on phones costing more than 30k. The Honor play is mainly aimed at gamers and power users. If you can adjust with the average camera and not so premium looks, Honor Play is definitely the phone for you.

If you are looking for a Camera-centric phone in the prince range of 20-25k, then Nokia 7 Plus is the best option available right now with Mi A2 at the second place. Honor 8 Pro is also a good choice, if available for lower price on discount.
